Elon University vs. UNC Wilmington vs. Indiana University at Bloomington

Our daughter is admitted to the above colleges. She is interested in the pre-med track.
While IU is a national university, UNCW and Elon are in-state (UNCW is obviously cheaper).
Any suggestions or thoughts in terms of the comparison across these schools. Are any of these
schools particularly good or bad for certain types of students or personalities?

Thanks

Others may know more about med school admissions that I do, but here’s my impressions:

Elon – grounded kids, many from the Northeast. They really cater to students – lots of support and a good learning environment. Expensive, of course.
UNCW - Not as well known by med schools, may need to be a real top performer at UNCW to get attention of some med schools though I imagine they’re a significant feeder to ECU’s med school.

IU – better national brand if she wants to go to med school out of the South. But it’s large and there may be less “TLC” and personal attention than she’d get at Elon or UNCW. (Some kids aren’t looking for personal relationship with professors, and I’m not sure if professor recs are super important for med school admission.)

What does your does want or think? They are pretty different options.

Good luck!

Thanks. Those are great insights.

Boy, IU is completely different from Elon. Don’t know much about 3rd choice, UNCW.

Has she visited Elon and/or IU? I find it hard to believe that anyone visiting those two schools would like them both equally. One will have large/huge class sizes with TA’s, the other small classes taught by Prof’s. One is DI with huge sports, the other not, although they do get fired up when hosting football.

If she has not visited them, I strongly suggest she does so before committing to 4 years at either one.

Good luck!
