email from berkeley

Sleepisabliss, there's a reason you didn't get a survey. Look at your stats, and look at ours. You're stats are over in ALL areas of Berkeley averages. Your GPA is higher than the avg., your SAT I and SAT II scores are higher than the avg. I think the resounding factor in all of ours is that we have ONE area that is lacking/under the avg. In mine and Lindsay's its the GPA, in xsabre9x's its her SAT I score and the fact that she's out of state. The reason why I asked for people stats, is to add support to my theory. The people who got this e-mail, were placed in the MAYBE pile. So if you didn't get one, its probably because they've already decided that you're in or you're out. For you, sleepisabliss, I'd say you're in.

I'm sorry but I don't go with your theory...... There are many who haven't received this questionnaire like me..... I have got decent stats..... But that doesn't mean if I haven't got the questionnaire, I'm in or out.....

Well, that's why its a theory, people can disagree with it if they please. I'm not trying to insult anyone by stating my theory, but I think most people would agree that if the decision letters go out in March, at least 75% of the process is over by now.

I don't think so..... They have around 36000 applications...... maybe 40% of it is over....

Btw, decisions will come on March 31st.... so almost 2 months left...

Comprehensive Review in Freshman Admissions – Fall 2003: A Report from the Board of Admissions and Relations with Schools
- Written September 2003

Under Berkeley's Admission Process it says:
"Readers could refer applicants who were close to being competitive for admission to an augmented review process, in which applicants were requested to submit supplemental information in the form of a questionnaire and letters of recommendation. Less than six percent (about 2,100 out approximately 37,000 applicants) were reviewed under augmented review."

That's how selective it is, and that's why all of us got it.

ooohhhh!!!!! that means i'm either in or out......

hmmm.... prophasi..... you were right!!!!!

This is scary if scores are just 'close to being competitive'

UC weighted GPA: 4.0
SAT I: 1490
SAT II Writing: 720
SAT II Math I: 740 (II:710)
SAT II Literature: 710

6 AP's, low income, private prep school

Call me ignorant if you wish, but how is it possible to be low income and go to a private prep school?

scholarships may help

are applications looked at in order received? like if i submitted my application on nov 31, is it probable that my application still hasn't been viewed?

I didnt get one, does this mean a likely admit, my stats are similar to sleep is bliss

Believe it or not, you can get near full rides from generous prep schools that want to include low and mid income students at campus. Esp as dd was straight A student and 99 percentile SSAT scorer. A lot of people who could benefit may not know about that or may not be willing to send their kid to boarding school. Not always being low income, we were better equiped to know about and look at options like this.

Bettina,
I think the average Berkeley weighted GPA is 4.2 or higher for accepted students, so that may be why a student with a 4.0 weighted GPA might get recommended for further review. Just guessing.

Berkeley's average is above 4.2. It is closer to 4.3.
I got a 4.3 and 1490, and still got the letter. Luckily, i was accepted.

for everyone that got it and already submitted, do they still have it up at your myberkeleyapp site. they still have mine and i can still look at it. is it the same for you guys, just want to make sure that i submitted correctly

I got a letter.

My UC GPA is 3.963 [including first semester senior year grades, which they ask for] or 3.88 [without first semester grades]
SAT I Verbal 760
SAT I Math 780
SAT II Math IIC 800
SAT II Writing 780
SAT II Spanish 710

Wish me luck =/

Did anybody send it after 10 days....?

Mine was after 11....hopefully they still consider it....

It's been like two weeks and I'm going to submit mine today so meh...actually I don't really want to go to Berkely...so I guess i'm not too worried.

if you don't get a questionairre, you're either totally in or totally out?

so i'm totally out?? :( oh well

(not stellar. 660v630m, 740writing, 620 math Ic, 650 us history, 28 ACT, 3.75uc gpa)

I didn't send mine within 10 days after, so Berkeley mailed me a letter telling me that if i want, i must turn it in before Feb. 28. I wonder what all of this extra stuff is for.
