Email from W&M ED staff

I got this on 16/Nov.

"2:00AM.

Yes, this email is being sent at 2:00AM on a Wednesday night (or Thursday morning). No, that is not because I am an insomniac (well not entirely).

I am currently on my way out my office door, heading across the street to Wawa to reload on my favorite caffeinated beverage for the final late-night push of Early Decision application reading. And while working at this late hour is perhaps less than personally desirable, I am pleased to do it as I am enjoying reading many of your applications. My colleagues and I do sincerely thank those of you who chose to apply through the Early Decision process - you'll be hearing from us soon.

At the same time, there are many of you out there who we are still looking forward to hearing from. I'm sure you're busy enough with school and extracurricular activities that just trying to find the time to complete college applications and compose an articulate, captivating, personally-encapsulating 500 word essay is a difficult endeavor - forget about keeping track of those decision dates and deadlines! Well, please allow this to serve as a helpful reminder...

The Regular Decision application deadline for the College of William and Mary is January 1, 2007. Applications must either be submitted online or postmarked by this date. Our application can be easily accessed through our website at www.wm.edu/admission/apply or can be completed online through the Common Application at www.commonapp.org

Please contact us if you have any questions about the application, the admission process, or the College, and visit our website at www.wm.edu to learn why you should apply to William and Mary, just in case you weren't already planning on doing so. We're here (day and night) to help.

Good luck and take care."

Not really informative so much as cute. (Wawa shout-out? Hell yes). Anyone else get it?

Yes, my daughter got it.

My daughter applied ED and didn't get this email - do you think that means anything?

what does that mean?

I got it and I'm not even sure I'm applying - I've only visited.

araby, don't worry about it. The message was meant for the kids who didn't apply ED, to encourage them to apply RD.

thanks! its a nail biting time at our house - she's fallen completely in love with W&M - and barely has a number two choice.

My daughter feels the same way! It's a great school. But she couldn't do ED, for financial reasons. Best of luck to your daughter!

My son visited and provided info. as well. He applied ED (out of state) and did get this email. Seems that the common thread is simple getting on the email list. Less than two weeks until Dec.1! Good luck everyone!

Oh, I don't think the email means a thing, really, except that you're on their automated email list.

Myself, I'm wondering whether ED OOSers will definitely know before December 1. I really, really, really hope so.

Anyone know what the dates were like last year?

The Common App site says that W&M is a "hand in hand" school, meaning that if you submit the Common App online, you also need to submit the supplement online. I can't figure out how to do that. What am I missing? Thanks for any help.
