Hi, so I submitted my application to Columbia in December 24th, and after I submitted, I got one email saying that there will be an official acknowledgement letter including ID emailed to me after my application is processed, but it's been some time, and I haven't got anything back yet. I am kinda worried if they received my application or not. Any suggestions?

no don't be worried. i havent gotten it either. and remember, in that one email it said: . "You should allow up to 30 days for such acknowledgment to reach you."
and it also mentioned that status cant be checked until after February 10th anyways. So just chill and be patient :)

hey, but I still didn't get it. weird. Why it takes so long. It's been almost a month. just 10 days left.

Well, you did send it in during the time that they will be getting the highest volume of applications, which is in that late December to the deadline period. It's only logical that they take longer to process because of the higher amount.

If you it makes you feel any better, I submitted my application on December 22nd,
and I'm still waiting for my official acknowledgement letter/email.

Did you send in your SAT scores on time?

I sent in the SAT scores the day before I submitted my application.

Well, it it takes 10-14 days for the SAT Scores to be SENT to Columbia.

So, that might be the reason for your delay. They probably didn't start reviewing your application until they got the scores.

Maybe, when did you send in your SAT scores? Did you get the official email yet?

I sent my 12 days before the deadline. And I'm still waiting for my official mail.

Ahhh ...we're in the same boat.

Okay, I just got off the phone w/ Columbia.

Try checking your spam.

If you can't find it, they can give it to you on the phone.

thanks. so you got your ID from them on the phone? I will call them next week to find out.

Guys, here's what i did to find out my Columbia ID. I ran out of patience waiting for the Columbia email (submitted app on Dec 31).
Go to the online application portal. Click on "application part 1" (the one you submitted long long ago, before the actual application). On the leftmost panel, click "Print". It'll prompt you to choose either HTML format, or PDF. Choose PDF (that's what i did anyway). Wait for your App to load and you'll find the ID (starting with C00...) on the upper right hand corner.
I logged on to track my own application and got a notice that they'll only post a status page for RD applications from Feb 2nd onwards. I however was able to check my Financial Aid application and learned that all the required forms were in.

Hope this helps :)

hey, thanks. I used your method and got my ID.

thanks for posting that! got mine too finally

So did you guys check your status already? I didn't see anything STILL!!!

All that I can check is FinAid documents, but nothing about the application itself

Seriously, so much for the "after February 2, 2009." They're probably getting a huge increase in applications like the rest of the top-tiered schools though, so I'm not really surprised at the delay. Kudos to them for handling those thousands of applications.

They changed the message. It now reads "February 10th"...
