Email Regarding Financial Aid = Good sign?

@HONORLIONS: same here; still nothing. However, I’m an international applicant…

Also, I’ve noticed that in the past few days the status for the Employer Income Statement in the Dartmouth Financial Aid Application Status changed from “Received not reviewed” to “Received review in progress.”

Hopefully that’s good news. What about you guys? do you have the same status?

To all those people saying that Dartmouth receives 15000+ aid applicants and that they wouldn’t possibly check everyone’s application, but only that of those who have been accepted. This seems reasonable, but I highly doubt it.

The way I see it - Dartmouth has to have a database of all aid applicants. As and when documents arrive via fax/email - they are updated to the database. I guess Dartmouth, as efficient as it is, does regular checks for incomplete apps(not manual but a system check) and sends a generic e-mail to applicants with missing documents. Thus I don’t see how it is anyway related to our decisions.

But I’m just a skeptical applicant - so I might be way off the mark!

@john12w - My status says the same thing - “Receive review in progress” but frankly - my chances of getting accepted are equivalent to the chances of India beating Brazil in football!! :p

I want to emphasize that the FA inquiry we received before S was accepted was very specific, asking for one particular piece of information. It was NOT a general review.

Good luck, everyone! :)

Also, everyone is getting them at different times… maybe linked to when their application is deemed ‘accepted’

Sad face - I only have “Received and satisfied.”

That’s interesting… I was given a general ‘your application is currently incomplete’ (more sad face?).

Still nothing in the mail either… Trying my best now to try to forget about it… Although a lot of new things have shown up that I never noticed before - verification of student/parent assets, title IV student authorization. The verification things seem to be about a ‘significant difference’ between stuff on FAFSA/CSS. Anyone know anything about this?

I didn’t get the email.

But the same thing happened to me with Colgate. They kept bugging me for finaid info last week and rejected me right after. -.-

Some of you are saying there is no way that the financial aid office would review every single applicant’s forms. However, every single applicant can view the missing information on web access, meaning this email is probably almost meaningless in regards to your admission status.

I also received the email today and hope I get accepted, but these are my thoughts.

I’m beginning to consider the same.^

As a favorite teacher of mine always like to say, “only fall in love with your safeties, kids, it’s the only love you can count on getting back.”

Rutgers is almost like Dartmouth…

Edit: he also liked to say that about getting Bs in lieu of As… I thought THAT sucked.

Just out of curiosity, did all of you definitely apply for financial aid?

I did. When I checked the website earlier, a few things were “missing,” and now it says everything is satisfied.

on Financial Aid status, ‘Title IV Student Account Authorization’ is required.
Did you all submit the form?

^I am an int’l applicant and I don’t have anything like that!

I have my CSS as “Received and satisfied”, Parents’ Business Supplement form and Employer Income Statement (Father) as “Received review in progress”.

Just found out I got that very same email yesterday. Why play with our emotions?

Do we all have “Title IV Student Account Authorization” as a form needed for submission for FA?

What does this form mean?

I do^ No idea what it means haha

I received that same email you all have been talking about on February 25th. I just checked my dartmouth financial aid application status and I’m completely confused. My dad won’t get his tax returns until next week, so the only documents that I’ve actually submitted to Dartmouth are my FAFSA and CSS, however, as of March 6, today, my Custodial Parents’ 2012 federal W-2 form(s), IDOC submission, Signed copy of student’s 2012 federal tax return, Signed custodial parents’ 2012 Federal Income Tax Return, Title IV Student Account Authorization, of which I’ve completely none, all went from the unsatisfied to the satisfied section and now their statuses are all listed as “Waived.” What could this possibly mean in terms of my financial aid and or candidacy to Dartmouth?

@TomasT - mine says the EXACT same thing, and I’m in the exact same position as you. No taxes submitted yet, but it says “waived” as of today except for FAFSA and CSS.

I doubt it’s anything, but does anyone have any ideas?

^^. Did you guys tell Dartmouth that these documents will be late? because if you did, then that might just indicate that it’s waived for now…

My css has been satisfied for a whilr, but today it added all the other forms under unsatisfied but labelled as “received and review in progress”
I do know that my mum has submitted it all so I m glad it matched up.
