Email to College Professors

Please read this and give me advice on stuff to add/delete!
Dear ,
My name is Michelle and I am currently a junior at xxxx High School. I am looking for an internship position in your lab for this summer. If it is possible, I would also like to continue to work in your lab during the school year.
My interest in biology, more specifically, medicine, has grown tremendously this past year as I was enrolled in a rigorous AP Biology course. I wish to further pursue this interest outside of the classroom and develop my level of critical thinking by working with distinguished college professors such as yourself.
I hope very much that I could assist you in your research and would be grateful if you look at my request favorably. If you are unable to make space in your lab, is it possible you could recommend some other scientists?

Thank you for taking the time to consider my request.

Regards,
Michelle

Should I include that I am also in an AP Statistics course or attach a copy of my high school transcript?
I have no clue how this emailing stuff works ahahaha

My advice (and hey, I’m also a high school student, so I may talk dumb haha):

1 Consider removing this line " If you are unable to make space in your lab, is it possible you could recommend some other scientists?" -- because it shows that you don't have inclination towards this specific professor and simply want to get an internship, no matter where it is offered.

2 Attach your transcript so that the professor know that whether you are capable enough or not. You may consider Stat AP also, if it has good marks.

3 Good luck :D

@hoshjoshe thank you so much!

I’d suggest reading the professor’s web pages to see more specifically what the professor researches. As written, this seems too generic. There are tons of kids interested in biology and medicine. You should show interest in a more specific field, even if you don’t actually feel that way.
