Emailing Regional Director

Hi, I would like to email my regional director (Tu-Quyen Nguyen GSE’09) about an update on my awards; I won a fairly significant state award (2nd place State Physics Olympiad), however, I failed to mention that in my resume. I would like to email him, however, I cannot get his email as 'Microsoft Outlook' is not installed (and won't install) on my computer, please check the link below. If someone would be kind enough to get me his email, I would appreciate that! Oh, and do you think I should send the email in the first place? Thanks

I don’t see a reason not to email with the update.

Thank you. Btw, do you happen to know if its Mr. or Mrs. its so dang hard to tell with these names sometimes lol.

Sorry, no idea.

lol thank you though.

how does this sound:

Dear Tu-Quyen Nguyen, (–> Don’t know if its Mr. or Mrs.!!)

My name is ***********; I am am Early Decision candidate to the University Of Pennsylvania from Middlesex County in New Jersey. I am extremely interested in the University Of Pennsylvania and would like to major in Chemistry as an undergraduate.

I would like to inform you that I have not had a chance to include a prestigious science award I have won in highschool, in my application. During the 2006-2007 academic year, I have placed 2nd in the State of Michigan (Silver Medal Winner) as a freshman for designing the most efficient Solar Car, in the “Michigan Physics Olympiad Competition” sponsored by the University Of Michigan, Ann Arbor. The purpose of the competition was to design the most efficient solar car using elementary materials, while taking factors such as friction, storage, weight to length ratio and chassis to power ratio into consideration. In addition, my team has placed 3rd overall in the State Physics Olympiad Competition (Bronze Medal).

I believe these awards can only help add to my application and show my renewed interest in science. I hope the admission committee will take this supplemental information into consideration during their decision. Thank you.

Sincerely,

that looks pretty good to me.

i actually had to do something similar about a week ago, except when my guidance counselor called Penn to ask how to do such a thing, they said to mail a paper copy directly to their admissions office… but idk about now since they are in the midst of decisions…

anyways, good luck!!!

i think it’s a she…

its a lady. just do a facebook search of “Tu-Quyen Nguyen” and all youll see is girls. lol

Did you get a response yet? I emailed over a week ago and I still haven’t gotten a response.

^ same… maybe they r too busy to respond?

Yea I got no response…however, I wanted to confirm this so I called Penn. The whole situation was pretty funny, the lady who picked up the phone sounded like a tipsy 20 yr old, and was sort of…“multi-tasking” to say the least. I called admissions mind you, and I heard a person in the background yelling: “NO WAY. That is so, like last year!”. I really did doubt whether I called admissions for a second…however. She really didn’t seem to know anything, so she transferred me to my Regional Director. I was actually nervous to speak to my regional director, lol, knowing he/she would be deciding about me right now.

However, someone else, who was an “assistant director” picked up, he was the only one available to answer questions apparently as “The council was in session”. I was pretty nervous at this point; however, I asked him if he could confirm this…turns out he walked in on the admissions meeting, and asked to confirm the regional director, if she got MY email. He came back and told me that my information has been received, and that usually they receive this information but just don’t have time to respond to the applicants emails. I nervous as hell when I heard they were evaluating applicants, and I didn’t whether bothering them for such petty details (such as confirming if they got my email) would make them look down at my application. Whatever. Its over lol. I realize most/some of the info I typed has no relation to the questions asked, but just wanted to share. :)

^ thanks for the anecdote… i figured they are too busy.
