Hi, I was under the impression that jobs at US embassies for people with International Relations majors were basically saturated and full and has too many aplicants. Does anyone know if that's true?

Also, would a major in International Business+1 or 2 romance languages be a good major for working in a US Embassy?

Languages are definitely good to have; try to think about what countries you might want to work in and go from there. Writing skills are crucial--you'll have to condense political situations of great intricacy into concise reports, and busy diplomats have no patience with sloppy writing. ;)

These are just some things I've picked up. FWIW, my parents are employed at the Swedish Embassy with degrees in International Economics (my mom's was a double major with Russian Literature), and are fluent in Swedish, English, French, and Russian. I honestly don't know how much the major matters, but my guess is that it's good to have some experience in the area.
