Emerson,Syracuse, Bard, Conn, F&m for creative writing/lit

Yes I understand the two topics are not mutually inclusive, but I was wondering if anyone has had good or bad experiences to offer about these schools and subjects.
Also--I really liked Conn when I visited but the more I read, the more I hear that it is for rich alcoholics...can a Conn student/parent, etc. (preferably not a rich alcoholic) confirm or deny this or speak about their own experiences?
THANK YOU!

Hi! I have a few friends/know people who go/have gone to Conn. I can’t generalize but it’s definitely a thing there. Bard is super cool, in every way. The area is gorgeous and the people are cool and smart. Emerson too. Syracuse isn’t bad either. This is socially speaking, all of the schools are obviously great academically. Also, all of those schools are filled with “rich alcoholics” so to speak. They’re really good private schools so I don’t know what you expect. If you really like it, don’t let stereotypes get in the way. But for your major and case I would go for Bard or Emerson. Both extremely creative environments with good programs. Good luck, hope this helped!

Hi! I have a son at F&M–government major. He absolutely loves it there. It’s a wonderful school with great professors that care about the students.
Son #2 is currently looking at a film production major and is in the waiting mode for two of the schools you mentioned. We never visited Conn. The feel at Emerson, Syracuse, Bard, and F&M is completely different (city campus vs. traditional campus; 2,400 students vs. 10,000; community-oriented vs. do-your-own-thing oriented). I recommend that you visit the schools you’re interested in, if at all possible, and see if each one is a “good fit”. That’s the most important thing for a successful college experience.
Best of luck!
