The B school is one of the premier programs at Emory and has gotten a lot stronger over the years. Very well respected across Wall Street and if you do the bare minimum you will get into Investment banking. Very strong recruiting at elite boutiques(Lazard, Evercore,Greenhill,Rothschild, Perella Weinberg partners, Centerview, Greenhill) and top middle market investment banks(Houlihan Lokey, Jefferies, Truist, Baird, RBC). It’s a little weaker for Bulge Bracket but a bunch of kids go there every year(strongest at Bank of America, Citi, Morgan Stanley, Deutsche). An increasing number of kids have been breaking into private equity out of undergrad including point72, ares, Bain capital, Roark, Blackstone, Blackrock(quite a few here) etc. Emory is known as a consulting powerhouse and at the grad level is a top 10-15 feeder into management consulting, which is one of the most coveted jobs. MBB recruiting has strongly picked up. Way stronger than other years. This year there are nearly 10 kids going to Mckinsey itself and bunch others to BCG and Bain. Consulting has a huge presence in Atlanta. Other than that its a target for some very elite consulting firms known to hire mostly from ivies especially in the healthcare space and a bunch of others like Guidehouse. A top target for the southeast and very strong for New York, DC, Texas. For non-banking/consulting there is a lot of F500 and company recruitment due to huge presence in Atlanta like Coca Cola, Delta, Amazon, Microsoft, Google etc. Overall very strong and among the top in the country. If I had to put it there are very few schools with sizable advantages over Emory and probably none where the difference is impossible to surmount. All though out of the current options it is by far the best.

Posting late, but daughter was accepted to both Oxford and Atlanta campuses!

36 ACT, 4.0 UW, decent ECs. She was invited to send in a vocal supplement back in December, which she did.

Now she’s got a tough decision – Emory is close for us, and it’s long been her top choice. But she was also accepted to Rice, Wake Forest, UGA, Furman – all of which appeal for different reasons.

Wow, those are some great choices! Which way is she leaning?

My daughter was deferred in the early round and then waitlisted at Tulane as well. Go figure.

Thanks!! She loves Physics, Chem, Math and is very interested in CS. As of now, her top choices are Harvey Mudd, Williams, Rice.

Emory is an amazing school, we visited and she liked it, but we don’t think it has the same opportunities for STEM as her top 3.
I think Emory really shines for Business, pre professional, Psychology, and other Humanities.

That makes sense!

It’s interesting, my daughter is a total humanities kid – the dual major in linguistics and psychology that Emory offers is exactly what she wants. But she is also deciding between Rice and Emory – she loved Rice when we visited, and the residential college system and everything else was just so appealing.

Good problems to have, but tough decision.

S got admitted to Emory & Oxford. Anyone received any merit scholarship?

You’re not alone. My son was waitlisted with slightly higher stats (4.0 uw/1500 SAT) and same IB program.

Any idea if Emory provides any merit scholarship for waitlisted students when these students are released from waitlist and offered an option to enroll?

My daughter admitted, 1430 SAT, 4.0 GPA, IB Diploma program, solid ECs w/leadership/fellowship focused in 2-3 areas, top 5% of her class.

I don’t know for sure, but I would guess probably no merit money for someone coming off the waitlist. The majority of their big merit scholarships were awarded through the scholars program, and I’m guessing the remainder were already offered with regular decision offers.
