Emory Admissions Regular Decision Fall 2022

The last several years they have sent an email on Monday around February 15-17 (depending on the year) notifying applicants that Emory Scholars decisions would be released on Wednesday at 6:00 pm. If you look at last year’s thread you will see that the blog announced it in the middle of the afternoon, and around 6:00 pm eastern, several people started posting that they received the email. Then there was panic when some people said they didn’t receive the email, which turned out to be a glitch. You will see similar activity around the 17th of the previous year and the year before that. The web site just says decisions will be released before March. So, the question is, will they hold with the last few years and release decision by this Wednesday and notify applicants today, which they have done in the past at least for scholarships. The blog seems to be dead at the moment.

This year is the only year in recent history where ED1 was told on the last possible date. Emory is usually one to two weeks early. They went early with ED2 so I would think they will be early with scholars and with RD. It’s usually two weeks after ED2. This year no email came for ED1. I don’t know why but they did post all over social media the Monday night. As an fyi, I do not have a child going through this process right now. My son is an emory student and I am an emory alum. I am also in normal years one of the interviewers. Not this year because my daughter is a senior.

I know about this year’s ED1 because she unsuccessfully went through it for Atlanta. She has an RD out for Oxford but pulled it. She is going to CWRU. She wasn’t a typical emory candidate as she thought she wanted a 3/2 with GA Tech and then theatre. At CWRU she can do both so the fit is better for her.

That is all excellent information. Thank you. Also, congratulations on CWRU for your D! I was just trying to figure things out from past years, but now I know you definitely have better info. Hadn’t even thought about social media, but sure enough last year on Monday 2/15 it was posted on Instagram “notifications will be emailed 2/17 after 6:00 pm ET”. So, I guess if we see something like that today then we will know it will be this week. (since there still seems to be technical issues with the blog.) Thanks!

I know the Emory Scholars program is a super long shot with 13000 applicants last year and around 200 finalists and I don’t know how many recipients in the end. Who knows how many even applied this year.

I can tell you that when I applied years ago (and it worked differently HS in GA could nominate students for scholarship decision and there was no ED2) my school called me to the office and told me I was being nominated. Middle of February came around and I got a letter in the mail. I didn’t get a scholarship but they told me I was accepted. It was a surprise to know in February but it was a pleasant one. Also remember it’s a school that can refer so you might only apply to Emory and Emory thinks Oxford is a better fit. They can ask you if you would like to be considered for Oxford. Oxford has the same scholarships too so sometimes that can happen.

Emory scholarships coming out Wednesday

Yup. Hey, only 11,000+ applicants this year, vs 13,000+ last year. So, there is that.
Looks like Instagram and twitter were updated about the same tie my D received an email. Still a super long shot. Good luck everyone.

Apparently guys, according to last year’s thread for Emory, those applicants who got the email for the scholars notification on Monday February 15th, 2021, didn’t get the scholarship. However, those applicants who received the email (for when scholars decisions would come out) on Tuesday February 16th, 2021, got the scholarship. This means that whoever got the email today probably is not gonna get the scholarship sadly. Fact check me if I’m wrong but its in this thread.

So I think we should list whether we got the email today at around 6 pm or tmmrw morning on the 15th.

It was just a glitch last year. I’m sure they fixed it for this year.

Idk if this is true. It was a glitch, or are they just labeling it as one? I hope you are right though bc according to last year’s reddit thread, every single person I saw who got the email (that the February 17th, 2021 decision would come out at 6pm) on the second day (Tuesday morning) or the second batch of emails, got the finalist status for the scholarship. Idk tbh, I hope its not like that this year too.

I dont know if that is true or not, but it seems like both an unfortunate and unnecessary mistake on Emory’s part if it did happen. From what I can gather, the notification on Wednesday comes in the form of an email, not a portal status update. So those are all individual emails. The status that lets people know to be on the lookout Wednesday is a group email and there is no reason to create multiple distribution lists for that email to separate the winners from the losers, precisely because of glitches like this and people trying to find ways to read the tea leaves. Especially considering they posted the same information on a blog, Instagram, twitter and Facebook at the same time. Why create two email distribution lists when the emails that go out Wednesday are personalized? Maybe that did happen last year, but I have to hope it was a mistake they corrected if it did, because it was unnecessary and avoidable. Either way, we’ll know Wednesday for sure.

My S22 received the email yesterday at about 6:00 pm EST. If last year is predictive of this year, then my S22 is in the “no” camp. Has anyone received the email today? Or anyone that didn’t receive it yesterday?

Last year from what I saw on this forum, people who received the email the second day received the email in the morning, not at 6:00 pm. (This forum never discussed the Mon/Tues No/Yes scenario).

you can go check on this separate portal with username, folowing this:
If your son’s name is james Connor, then username will be JCONNOR

Try to see financial aid and that should be a good prediction

this is correct yes, and those people either got the scholarships for Oxford/emory college, or they got the 100k merit scholarship divided through the 4 years.

how should the financial aid area look?

Are you saying scholarships would be listed in the financial aid portal already? Why would they do that?

this is what I’m confused about too.

I’m with you – but it’s hard not to get sucked into “reading the tea leaves” as you say, lol.

Good luck to everyone. Remember they got 11,000 applications and only select 200-some finalists, so it’s not a reflection of you (or your student). Just a numbers game!

Yeah, I saw the thread you pointed to on Reddit. Well, nobody here this year indicated they did not receive an email last night nor did anybody indicate they received a late email today. So that could mean they fixed the ‘glitch’ from last year if it was a real indicator or, people don’t want to make others feel bad by verifying the tea leaves are real. But either way we’ll know around 6:00 pm tomorrow.

Yup, hope it goes well for all of us.
