Emory is my first choice school. I applied RD back in November but am thinking of changing to ED2. I have heard that the ED2 acceptance rate is not much different than RD. Is that true. Here are my stats; SAT 1430, 4.4 Weighted GPA, Prob 3.8 Unweighted, 12 APs, mostly 5’s and 4’s. Lots of ECs, mostly related to theater and music, both in and outside of school, Varsity Lacrosse -Captain. Thoughts?
You will have a much better chance at ED2 than RD.
Thanks. Also forgot to add I am a legacy it that helps. My mom went to Emory.
This article was written one year ago and RD rates dropped even further. They are more likely to want you if you want them and that is where yield factors come into play. Demonstrated Interest is not a factor for Emory, but motivation to attend is a factor. It’s a not so subtle difference. Even if the acceptance rate isn’t “much” different, the quality of the competing RD pool is different. If you want to go to Emory, then ED2, at this time, makes sense.
Thanks so much!
The legacy and ED will definitely help. Good luck.
If Emory is your first choice and it is affordable, seems that you should switch to ED2. No downside, unless you want to compare financial aid or think you might prefer another school.
