Emory has went to the waitlist

I would be the happiest person in the world if I get the call!!! I’m RD and my last name begins with the last letter of the alphabet :(

For everyone asking, I was RD and my last name begins with R.

After being waitlisted I only filled out the information online when they asked you to accept your spot. If Emory is your first choice, make sure they know!

Any international students get in?

I am an international student and I haven’t heard anything yet. I doubt they’ll be calling us. We’ll probably just be receiving an email about our acceptance/rejection.

Oh yeah. No international stu. got off the wait list yet…

will they get to international students last?

Hey guys. I’m on the Emory wait list and I’ve just got off the Oxford wait list. They told me that 3000 people have been placed on Emory’s wait list, and from that only 40-100 people are going to be taken off. Oxford’s giving me 24 hours to accept their admission offer- should I accept?

3000 may have been placed but not everybody accepts the waitlist offer

What is sad is the fact that I know someone who put a different school on that person’s essay and still got waitlisted. :/

Anyhow, I heard a lot of bad things about Oxford. You should research more or ask for a time extension, perhaps.

Originally they wanted me to answer on the spot, but they’re giving me a 24 hour time extension. I really don’t know what to do.

What other schools are you looking at llwang?

As of now, just University of British Columbia. I have a scholarship there so it’s going to be pretty cheap :)

Is anyone else thinking of going to Oxford? Basically from the research I’ve been doing in this past hour (while I should be studying for AP English Lit lol), I’ve heard that Oxford is very challenging and there is better student interaction with professors. And the people that survive Oxford usually do pretty well in Emory (many graduate top 10% of the Emory class) Can anyone verify this? Also, is Oxford good for a pre-med student?

I heard Oxford is a more liberal type school. Science classes are not as focused and such. I also heard transferring from Oxford to Emory is really terrible. Because you are outcast from the actual Emory Students.

But this is all I have heard… Another person I have talked to loved it.

It depends on you.

After two years at Oxford you are automatically transferred to Emory, so unless you are talking about transferring in the first two years I doubt what you’ve heard is entirely correct.

Is Oxford College at Emory a kind of remedial college for promising but underachieving kids – that is, is it a sort of lower case “emory” and a back door way for low stat kids to get in?

@FallenAngel9

I’m talking about the people who transferred from Oxford to Emory (after two years of course).

There was a message on another thread saying that Emory has gone to the 2nd round of wait list , does anyone know what that means?

Probably means that they sent all the acceptances and are waiting to see how many accept the offer. Depending on that, they could look at other wl students. Dunno…

^^I think it was me who posted that; there was a round of calls middle of last week…

then another round this week…

making 2 (two) rounds of calls…
