I know that EMORY UNIVERSITY will take until May or June to get through its waitlist but here’s a new thread for any applicant who got waitlisted. If you have any insights about the prospects for waitlisted applicants this year, please post. I read in prior years they might have taken 50 to 100 students off the waitlist (ie. they got accepted) but not sure if this is a consistent thing year to year. Good luck to all!
I got waitlisted by Emory as well. I am an international student and was wondering whether they give financial aid to waitlisted students.
Thanks for this thread!! I got waitlisted too and was really disappointed about it… I think the thing holding me back was my SAT score (1410) and the fact that I got 3’s on some of my AP tests (I was not super motivated as a freshman/sophomore). But we will see!! Does anyone here know of anyone who got in with not-so-great SAT/ACT scores?
@uditjain, I don’t know for sure but I don’t think waitlist vs. direct admittance makes any difference for financial aid considerations so the answer is probably yes, they do give FA to waitlisters. You could email the admissions office.
@lbpoetrytea, try the collegedata.com website, it will show you trends in GAP and SAT/ACT scores from prior years for every major university
I just received my aid package for Oxford today, but they gave me terrible aid. I need to pay about the same price per year as my family’s yearly income (24k). My friend, who got her aid on time and has the same EFC as me, only needs to pay 2k. Did anyone else receive a disappointing late package?
Sorry, posted in the wrong thread.
@SteviaWonder check with the FA office - they may have made a mistake. Those figures sound pretty off. They are used to getting these calls, no worries. I hope they can improve your offer. If your family owns a home, has significant savings, or if you are an only child can all impact your EFC
Guys - I just declined my admission to both Emory and Oxford. Hope one or two of you get the spots I cleared. Good luck.
@medscibud where are you going?
@nightstalker160 : I think Duke, Rice, or somewhere (go look at their profile). Perhaps Emory (and is too close to home, who knows) gave no money or didn’t offer their major, but I know they had one school on their table outside of those two that I would have strongly considered Emory over if I wanted to do biosciences (hint it is ranked number 15). Emory just does better in STEM education in my opinion (this school still has most of its curriculum focus way too much on memorization and not higher level problem solving or experimental biology/neuroscience even in upper division courses which is not good if you come in high achieving but want an edge on those MCAT sections which are biased toward experimental design, and data analysis). Now, the other two, I understand. higher med. school admit rate and comparable or better STEM education. Both did their due diligence in making sure life sciences education was modernized and caters to a high achieving student body supposedly capable of more than memorizing tiny details so I can see why anyone would want to go to Duke or Rice.

I declined my spot on the WL
Hopefully someone on the WL who deserves this school more than I do will get in.

Thanks @RUHTRA999 & @MedSciBud for withdrawing and giving WL’sted folks a chance.
any idea when they start releasing acceptances/rejections off the waitlist based on past years?
Bump has anyone heard back?
Guys I also got waitlisted and really really hope I get in but yeah just @siprra asked when do they normally reply wait list student like a more specific date.
I’m going to guess they’ll start in early May (next week) after they figure out how many have committed (students have until 1 May to decide.
Would you happen to know the statistics in regard to the expected number of students who might be admitted through the waitlist this year or even just the number of students they might have waitlisted? @nightstalker160
Anybody heard anything?
^^Bump has anyonever heard???
@Mahi631 @Emoryhopeful2021 no I haven’t heard anything yet
