Which college is has a better department for philosophy, economics, and political science?
also, which is more prestigious?

I can speak to the philosophy department at Emory. As a major who has taken or knows almost every philosophy professor I can say that our department is great. Like most disciplines, the speciality you choose also influences whether or not you think the department is strong. Emory is particularly good for post-modern philosophy (Foucault, Sartre, Dilthey, etc.). Professor such as Flynn, Makreel, and Carr are the authorities in their concentrations. However, since I take courses primarily in medieval and early-modern philosophy, I can also say that the department is strong in other areas as well.
I have not heard the best things about Emory’s econ department but I do have friends who have graduated as Econ majors and were hired prior to graduation at consulting firms so it can’t be too bad.
Prestige is difficult to determine. If you are from Southern California then people will probably say UCLA. In general, I would say that Emory has the edge (though the general/non-academic population might not know about Emory because of the lack of DI sports teams).
