Hey guys! I’m a sophomore and I was just wondering what you think of the Political Science program? Also, I was considering applying ED when I get to senior year. I just love it at Emory. Is the program hard to get into, since it’s like #55-60 ranked? What would be necessary to get in?
I am confused. Who ranks it that way and what does its rank have to do with undergraduate education and oppurtunities? Those rankings never have anything to do with that. Also, at ECAS, you do not apply for MAJORS. You just apply for admission into ECAS and all majors become available.
Here is US global ranking which put it at 24 https://www.usnews.com/best-graduate-schools/top-humanities-schools/emory-university-139658 but that nor any other ranking can actually capture how strong the program is for undergraduate
And to be clear it is extremely strong for that, and offers tons of opps and special programs:
That is what you look for in terms of determining the strength of an undergraduate program in something, not any ranking (which rates research productivity http://polisci.emory.edu/home/undergraduate/index.html
Just go on there and look for things you like
Also, I never stated that the education was weak. I simply asked if it was hard to get into.
@ab2002 : You gave a rank and then asked how difficult it was to get in which means you saw an association that does not exist is what I am saying, because Emory does not admit by major. My point was just to say that the rank you posted (which when followed by asking how hard it was to get in, suggests that you think that it would be easier if it was higher) is not related to the undergraduate education in the department or admissions. Admissions information is on Emory’s admissions website. If you are interested hit it up and it will give the info. you need.
