Emory Scholars 2022 Thread

@grandscheme : Actually glad its a 3.2. Means your DD can actually challenge themself a decent amount without the thought of a scholarship in the back of their heads. Significantly higher thresholds would no doubt influence academic decisions of all but the most infallable students who could literally take any level course they want and do really well, often leading to too many decisions that would not be characterized as “scholarly” so much as “saving face” or almost perfectly strategic.

@bernie12 - My D got an email last night offering her the LAS at Oxford! Your predictions gave me hope and I’m so glad you were correct in our case. Oxford is now just within budget and is at the top of her list. She hasn’t visited the Oxford campus yet, so we’re working to get that scheduled ASAP. Thanks again for all of the info you provide on Emory and Oxford.

@Emmycat Congratulations on your daughter’s admission to Oxford and receipt of the LAS. I’m a junior at Emory College and spent my first two years on the Oxford campus.

Thanks @BiffBrown! How did you like the Oxford campus? Was the transition to main campus easy for you this year? My D has only driven through the Oxford campus, but hopes to take an official tour soon. She did tour Emory main campus last year and loved it.

Received LAS for both Emory and Oxford college! May be a viable option if my top choices do not pan out.

@FinesseKing
Congrats, and impressive profile.

@Emmycat. I had a great experience at Oxford. Loved the small class sizes, emphasis on student engagement both in the classroom and in extracurriculars. For me, not being in a big city was a big positive. It was a nice change of pace. I made a great group of friends who I still spend time with on the Atlanta campus.

Transitioning to the Atlanta campus meant adjusting to larger class sizes and not having the same access to professors as I did at Oxford. However, the Atlanta campus offers a much greater range of STEM research opportunities, which has been a big plus.

Oxford’s humanities classes are excellent - usually 5-15 students per class with direct access to professors who care about teaching and engaging students in the classroom. The INQ humanities are especially good.

Are Emory RD decisions rolling or do they come out on a particular date?

@Heisenberg1700 They come out on a specific date

@IntApp2022 Do you know when they come out?

Not sure @Heisenberg1700 . People are saying it was around 22nd.

Yep. Decisions are out 22nd.

Got in. when does financial aid come out?

Accepted into Oxford Emory class of 2022! Have the Financial aid and scholarships been released today?

For future applicants: if you get selected for Goizueta Scholars Program and do well at the interviews you have a very good chance to get full ride scholarship. I can’t believe how generous Emory is!

I am curious as to how many applied to the scholars program as Early Decision and how many Regular Decision. Any idea?

Besides Goizueta, do business applicants have less chances for merit scholarships (for example, I’d imagine the LAS does not apply to business applicants?).

Nobody is applying directly to the business school. I would imagine the GBS scholars had outstanding qualifications as well as leadership in DECA or something like that. Most applicants, even those who intend to be pre-business, are eligible for the Emory Scholars. 50% of students who attend GBS enter for spring semester of their sophomore years and 50% enter during fall of their junior years.
