to everyone who didn’t get the outcome you wanted, remember that you’re more than a college decision
I was rejected from what I thought was my dream school ED, and now I’ve realized that there’s so many other opportunities out there. you’ll find your place
@collegeplz2018 D received an email saying she did not get scholars but that she should go to her admissions portal to check for some exciting news. There was an acceptance letter to both schools. She did not apply ED or EA. She just applied scholar deadline early.
Merit Scholar Finalist! I fell in love with Emory when I toured and I would be incredibly happy if I ended up there! I applied RD but submitted my app back in late November. This whole college process has seemed so arbitrary- I was deferred from U Michigan EA, but then accepted and considered for merit at Emory, Notre Dame, and Wakeforest. Best of luck to all!
“The Emory University Scholars Committee has completed its review of applicants for our Scholar Programs. We regret to inform you that you are not among the group of Finalists selected. This year’s record pool of over 10,500 applicants was particularly competitive, representing some of the top students in the world.
However, the Committee felt so compelled and excited by your academic successes that we wish to share some good news with you, perhaps earlier than you expected.”
I logged into my application portal and saw that I was accepted into both Emory and Oxford College today! Disappointed that I didn’t get the merit scholarship, but hopefully I will discover alternative avenues to finance my education.
Best of luck to all, and keep your heads up no matter what! Great things await anyone willing to work for it.
My D applied RD to Emory only and was offered admission to Emory, with no scholarship offered. Basic stats GPA 4.818/4.0 (UW) and 1580 SAT. EC’s were very good but not outstanding. National Merit Finalist.
Got in! Selected as a Goizueta Business Scholar. So, we are invited to the Finalist Week 3/21-3/24 and attendance is required to be considered for the merit scholarship.
So, merit scholarship is not a given yet? Does anybody know what’s a percentage of invitees who end up getting the scholarship? What is the usual scholarship amount?
34 ACT, 4.0 UW GPA (valedictorian for class of 383), national awards & national officer for my major, founded 2 clubs, Assistant Concertmaster of a college orchestra, tutor in my field, 500+ volunteer hours. No scholarship, scholars, or early admittance.
