@anxiouswreck Hang in there. Something will come through.
@thesoutherngirl Very surprised. Based on your name it appears you are from the region, too. Fingers crossed for you for good news down the line.

No scholar finalist or early acceptance (only applied to Emory college). For future reference: 1560 SAT, NMSF, valedictorian of 600+, National AP Scholar, decent EC’s (at least I’d like to think so lol, nothing spectacular though). Congrats to all who were invited to interview for a scholarship or got in early
Selected for Scholars at Oxford College and got into both Emory Arts and Sci and Oxford College. 3.77 UW 4.48 W, 34 ACT and really good and unique ECs. I was told that there I was no way I was getting money and there was a slim chance of me getting in so I’m beyond excited. Congrats to all those who were selected and admitted and I look forward to meeting finalists at the Scholars Weekend!!! To all those still waiting to hear, best of luck.
@siw0300 : It is technically true, the slim chance, but you actually got it (someone has to, but no one knows who will)! Congratulations!
Does anyone know if international students have a lower chance of getting selected for these scholarships?
Got that infamous “regret” email haha…kind of sad, but at the same time, I think I need to re-evaluate my optimism with a lot of these selective scholarship programs/schools. Meeting a lot of other high-flying applicants in person has shown me just how many deserving and incredible people there are! It’s really humbling. Congrats to everyone who received scholarships/invites to Scholars Weekend, and those who got in early!
Does anybody know from those who received scholarships invitations to the Scholars Weekend - how many will be actually getting the scholarship? Is it like 50% who will get something?
@MiCh408
Emory is very EC conscious when it comes to Scholars applicants. As you can tell all the ones chosen had high stats.
@anxiouswreck Did you not apply to any safety schools?
@Pastpower Well yeah, but I haven’t heard back from them either…
@anxiouswreck Really, what state do you live in and what schools are the ones you’re referring to? Did none of those schools have rolling admissions? Hard to imagine a safety, such as a state school, that hasn’t released decisions yet.
@pastpower, Not all safeties are state schools. My child did not apply to any schools with rolling admissions. And there are plenty of safeties that only have ED and RD (no EA or rolling). So if you’re not sure about an ED or can’t make the firm financial commitment, then you’ve got to wait it out.
@Pastpower You would think! I applied to UNH and UVM (and WPI, but that’s more of a low match)- I’m from NH.
@ProfessorMom1 I’m aware, I was kind of asking the general question of what safeties she applied to as well as what state she lived in to see if she applied to those schools. If I may ask, what schools did your child apply to as safeties that didn’t have rolling admissions? I’m just curious
I think I just hijacked my own thread… :)) My apologies to all!
Cheer up mate. Don’t derail your optimsim… applying to these top schools is already an achievement in and of itself so re-evaluate consciously!

@Pastpower My D applied to two safeties which do not do rolling admissions. She did plan it so that she heard from one with a priority application deadline and I forget why she heard from the other one early. It was unexpected that she heard early from either much less both.
Any idea why certain people aren’t finalists but are getting accepted into the school early? I only applied to Emory, I have a 30 on my ACT, 3.8 unweighted/4.33 weighted, 8 AP’s, and some good ECs and I’m starting to panic about my overall chances at getting into the school. I applied ED2.
