Emory Scholars question

Does the same admissions officer who reads your application to Emory read your Emory Scholars essay? In my Emory Scholars essay, I alluded to a lot of the points mentioned in the Common Application, so I don't want to unnecessarily repeat myself...

The Scholars Committee will read all submitted essays (Common App and Scholar essays). Therefore, your essays may be redundant

So is the Scholars Committe different from the regular one? Like say if one person was not nominated and one was nominated for the Scholars program - their apps would be read by different people?

Kinda…There is a Scholars Committee and an Admissions committee. If you make it to the semifinal round you are accepted to Emory. If you do not then your go through regular admission. Being nominated for the Scholars program allows an applicant to apply to the Scholars program but confers no benefits for admission.

How do you get nominated for the Scholars program?

Simply have your guidance counselor complete a form found on the Emory Scholars website and you are nominated. I believe each high school is limited to four nominations per school.

For Scholar essay, is there a specific topic we have to write about or do we just write about anything we want?

Anyone know how to apply for Oxford Scholars? I want to apply, but I didn’t mark it on the common app and I already submitted. Anyone know what the essay/essay question is?

“All students who apply for admission to Oxford College by November 1 automatically are considered for these awards and will be notified by February 1 if they are chosen as scholar candidates.”
