emory sophomore transfer

My counselor ended up submitting the ED agreement form for ED 2 three days before the decisions came out, so I ended up getting a rejection letter (since my application was incomplete). But at the end of my letter, it says that I could apply to Emory College of Arts and Sciences as a transfer student after completing one full year of college coursework in a degree-seeking program. Does Emory mention this in every rejection letter?

@psj1318. They might. Were there anymore details. Some schools do conditional transfers (as in a guarantee or dramatically increased transfer chances) , but with that amount of detail, I suspect it is not that. May just be a way of saying: “It is not impossible to get into Emory as a transfer student”)

@bernie12 There were more details, but I heard Emory doesn’t have conditional transfers anymore, so my counselor was assuming that I have likely that I would get accepted as a sophomore in college if I maintain a high GPA.

@psj1318 : Eh…but the high GPA and transfer thing almost applies to any transfer applicant.

@bernie12 so ur basically saying if I get a high GPA, I am guaranteed to Emory (and possibly other colleges)?

@psj1318 : That plus EC participation should make access to places with decent transfer intake numbers doable. And note that “high” need not be 3.9+ or even 3.8+…they will likely factor in major and coursework. So don’t waste time trying to manufacture a high GPA by taking all the easy classes and professors for your area. Just be normal and put in the work. Also, don’t enter wherever with the intent to transfer unless it is maybe like a 2 year program or something.

@bernie12 what do you mean by “Also, don’t enter wherever with the intent to transfer unless it is maybe like a 2 year program or something”

@psj1318 : Some people enter whatever school they matriculate with plans to transfer from the start. As in, they do not intend to give the school a chance. They pretty much let the thought of transferring dictate every decision (course selection, engagement or engagement of campus activities, etc). I’m just saying, unless you are at a 2 year college (I guess a community college), then that makes little sense. I would just let the thought of transferring disappear, give whatever school your all, and then use transfer as a trump card if you are genuinely dissatisfied.
