Emory Supplement License

For the Emory supplement about creating a course, how much license do I have to be creative (i.e. should the class be purely academic or could it be more of an out-of-the-box, not so much academic but still beneficial to a student)?

I'd appreciate insight especially from previous applicants—I know this prompt has been around for at least a year.

My son, a freshman, wrote more of an ‘out of the box’ course description, much of which was clearly tongue in cheek. It was clearly not academic. He was admitted, but who knows what role, if any, this essay played.
