Emory Transfer 2017 Fall

you have a good gpa @chrisli75 what college classes have you taken

@anonymoussss123 Mostly just core classes for my major (Macro, Business Law, Micro, and for some reason Psyche) but besides BLaw being a 200 course everything else was a 100 course, which is pretty much the big negative factor to my application honestly.

Do you think it will matter though? I just mostly did it just so my credits can transfer.

i think its fine where else did you apply @chrisli75

@anonymoussss123 what are your stats

@anonymoussss123 I also applied to SUNY Binghamton, GWU, BU, and Vanderbilt. For me, Emory is my reach.

why is emory considered a reach? u have good stats @chrisli75

3.95 gpa @Dontskipthemoose

@anonymoussss123 I’m just scared because my High School GPA is absolute trash lmao.

oh gotcha what is it in number form @chrisli75

It’s around 3.2

@chrisli75 If admitted, hope you get the B-Law course counted because that class is one of the best but apparently most intense courses in Emory’s b-school. I think the instructor (who is well-reputed) gives 3-4 hour exams, something only replicated in STEM at Emory as far as I know and apparently they are not particularly “pleasant”. I just warn about this because Emory likes to deny lots of credits depending upon where you are transferring from and some depts may even ask for a syllabus.

I think the B-law class at Emory can be taken for an experience, but maybe as S/U if b-school allows.

did u apply as a transfer @bernie12

@anonymoussss123 : No, I was on main for all 4 years but have met transfers who were going to the business school which is why I am aware of the credit issue. Sometimes they seemed to be unwilling to even take economics credits. Hopefully they do not go that far with you.

My SAT was waived even though I only have 15 completed hours. does anyone know why and if it’s a good or bad thing? (I will have 30 hours by the time I transfer)

you only have 15 credits and your sat was waived? @sonngy

@anonymoussss123 yes, I was told I didn’t have to send them during my college visit when I was speaking to one of the admission counselors as long as I had 30 by the time I transferred. The website said I still needed to send it so I did but as of right now, it says “waived” instead of “received” in my application status.

thats interesting. usually you have to send them if ur applying as a sophomore @sonngy whats ur gpa?

im gonna have 36 by the end of the year @sonngy

I have a 3.4 GPA. what college are you transferring from? @anonymoussss123

@anonymoussss123 I will be a Junior Fall 2018. My highschool GPA was pretty bad (~3.5)
