Emory University Accidental Email?

I was accepted into Oxford but waitlisted at Emory College. Yesterday I received this acceptance email from Emory College:

"Congratulations again on your acceptance to Emory College! We are so proud of you and your classmates, and we can’t wait to welcome you to our community as the Class of 2022.

We recently mailed an Admitted Student Welcome Packet to students living in the United States, and (given the uncertainty of international mail) we didn’t want you to miss out on all the important information!"

Unfortunately, this was followed by this email:

"Last night we sent an email to you congratulating you on your acceptance to Emory College. This was sent in error, and we humbly apologize for any confusion or hurt feelings this email may have caused.

Your status with Emory College remains the same, as does your status with Oxford College. "

I know I’m definitely grasping at straws here but does this indicate anything towards my likelihood to be accepted off the Emory college waitlist?

My daughter got the same email unfortunately. My guess is that it was just a mistake-- as in somebody probably selected the wrong list of recipients and it went out to the waitlisted kids. In our case, it was only mildly interesting because she already decided to attend elsewhere. Good luck to you though!

Something similar happened last year, too. It’s a mistake. Listen to their second email. It was sent in error – that doesn’t mean you won’t get in, though. Good luck.
