Emory University Class of 2016 EDI

Thanks guys, that was really helpful, only one more year till I’m in the same position as you  I just had one question Taylorj21 said

Are you sure? I’m pretty sure Rice is in the center of Houston which is the 4th biggest city on the US.
I’m going to have so many problems deciding :frowning: In addition to both being near large cities, Rice is literally across the street from the largest medical center in the US, and a large center for research. I actually have no clue how I’m going to choose.

Hey Premed4, sorry if i mislead, I realize that my sentence wasn’t phrased elaborately. Rice is 280 ish acres in a surrounded by a really wooded area (even though it is in Houston). This is what I meant by its “rural small city feel”. Choosing between the Texas Medical Center and the Center For Disease Control is really up to what you want to do in the medical field.

Rice is not remotely rural. It is in the West University area, a nice suburb located minutes from downtown.

Well, I’m so glad I have a year to decide what I want to do. Hopefully I’m visiting both sometime this year.

Rice is in a great area. My high school is minutes away from it.

But, I do think Emory is a bit “easier” to get into, for various reasons.

I agree Emory is a bit easier to get into, its avg SAT is lower than that of Rice University and its percentage accepted is higher…

not by much, and since I’m OOS for Rice that will make it significantly easier.

Also, are any of you applying for the Emory Scholar program? I was thinking about that for next year, and just wanted to see what anyone doing it now knows about it.

premed4 - Emory Scholor program is nomination based and each HS can send upto 4 nominations. Forms are sent out in late summer and you have to follow-up with your HS to be nominated.

I applied ED1 to Emory and I was nominated for the Scholars Program. Now it’s just a waiting game until December!

TWO WEEKS. This is crazy!!! Best of luck to everyone:)

Yeah I am pretty scared… :frowning: Hope I made it in :S

Eleven days until decisions…but who is counting? This thread is surprisingly sparse as compared to other similar colleges ED threads.

lol yeah im freaking out…and i remember reading the class of 2014’s thread, they had much more activity in their chat. GOODLUCK EVERYONE! i’m in china so it comes out on the 16th for me :(

I also applied ED 1 and for Emory Scholars. Only 11 more days… it’s completely nerve-wracking!

1 Week left-Gluck everybody!

My senior grades are about .2 lower than what i have usually been getting. I am praying i get in to Emory ED cause if other colleges see my senior grades they might not take me!! : (

I’m also ED1, Emory Scholars candidate.

Not gonna lie, I’m freaking out. I’m so happy someone made this thread! Let us suffer together over the internet as our ED results day draws near!

So many Emory Scholar candidates, i feel so left out. Gud luck to all of you.

ED1, Emory Scholars Candidate.
FREAKING OUT. So many of my friends hear back from Cornell today - I can’t believe we have to wait another week…longest week of my life.
