Did anyone else get a letter last week outlining the conditions of applying early decision? It was weird, why would they send a SMALL ENVELOPE a week before decisions come out?

i think i got that letter like a week after i applied ED. and it was in a small envelope

Yeah, I got that letter around the same time that MaddieNo did. For me I think it was because I turned in one of my forms a little bit late.

Yeah this is the second letter I got from them. The first was about a week after I applied acknowledging that I applied, and then this one which was restating how binding Early Decision is.

ahhh now you’re making me nervous … when did you receive it?

I got it Thursday, but it was postmarked the 2nd.

grrr I’ll just have to keep checking my mail box just in case T.T…hope i also receive it!!! hahaha. I just realized…compared to 2015 ED thread, this thread is dead.

I didn’t receive a second letter either. Did anyone else get one like MaddieNo’s…?
I also received the Financial Aid email.

Finals week for me too. The anxiety is driving me insane!

As long as you’ve received some kind of letter that says they’ve received all of your ED materials I wouldn’t worry about it. I’m pretty sure it’s just admissions letting you know that everything is in order so far.

Calc midterms on Wednesday and Friday for me…JOY! The amount that I am freaking out about the decisions now isn’t really helping me study either.

Next four days is going to kill me!!! :(

Oh my goodness… me, too! GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE! HANG IN THERE!

OMG… I got the letter from financial aid too…
it says
“A personal Financial Aid Advisor has been assigned to you and will be your main contact throughout your student experience.”
and…
“Please feel free to contact us if we can provide assistance. We look forward to building a rewarding partnership with you.”

Did EVERYONE got this email?

This is choking me… omg…

I really don’t want to make anything more out of it than it really is, but why would they send that email and put the financial aid stuff on the OPUS to-do list for people that are rejected? It’s just all a little strange. It’s a good sign though, unless everyone that applied for financial aid received the same email and everything. Does anyone know anything about this financial aid stuff being sent a week before decisions are out from previous years? If it means anything?

I joined CC just to share my nervousness and anticipation with you guys. I also applied ED1 back at the end of October so I’ve been becoming more and more anxious with each passing day. Thankfully I was admitted to one of my second tier schools (tulane) through early action so at least this isn’t going to be as nerve-racking for me as it will be for some others. I’ve been checking Opus hourly just to see if anything new has popped up. With the financial aid notices, I would try not to read into them much. Be optimistic and hopeful but not expecting. I’m probably going to be a psychology or neuroscience major (shocker) but I’m not planning on going to medical school at the moment.
Just out of curiosity what made you guys want to apply ED1 to Emory? For me, I’ve always loved the south, and couldn’t deal with a rural campus setting far removed from a crowd. I do, however, like a liberal-artsy / traditional hybrid, which Emory definitely has. The medium size allows for fantastic facilities and opportunities that smaller schools likely wouldn’t be able to support yet remains more community-centric and centralized compared to most larger schools. The dorms, diversity, reputation, location, and facilities are definitely attractive, too, though (obviously!)
Good luck to everybody who’s waiting for a response! Hopefully this will be a thread of celebrations come the 15th, but if not, at least there are others to share your frustration with. Take care!

I know that I shouldn’t get my hopes up, since Emory is need-blind, but I just want to know why they would assign a financial advisor =P. Anyways, I’m applying to Emory because I ALSO love south. I love how diverse Atlanta is, especially because I’m Asian and live in non-asian place. I also love love love their dorms…the LSM!!, but it’ll be a chance to get into that dorm too =(. I also get 45% discount for Methodist scholarship(that is if I get admitted)
This is pretty much it…although I did exaggerate more on my essay haha

I didn’t apply ED and I got the letter. However, I did apply to the Oxford Scholar Program. HOWEVER, I did miss the deadline for the Oxford Scholar Program by a full five days and do not know wheter they counted it or not. Sorry for causing even more confusion. :)

2016student,

I think the simple answer for me is that I met an alumni of the NBB program at Emory who told me all about the major and all about the school. I want to go into autism research, so the NBB major sounded like it would be perfect for me. She convinced me to do more research and to visit. I live in the Northeast in an area that really doesn’t know too much about Emory, just that a lot of kids who apply to ivy league schools will apply to Emory as a safety. Through ranting and raving about Emory’s positive aspects to my friends, I kind of realized that Emory had surpassed William and Mary (my former top choice, current second choice school) on my list of favorite colleges.

On a less serious note, I had a really silly escapade involving the Falafel King right outside campus that made me realize how many wacky and crazy adventures I could have at that school.

Hey guys, I also applied ED to Emory a while back. I’m compulsively checking my email like I have OCD haha. Four days is so long!
I was wondering, aren’t we supposed to get an email a couple of days before the decisions are out saying at exactly what time they’ll be posted on OPUS? I read previous years’ threads and that seems to be the case. Thanks and good luck to everyone!

I read that last year some kids got emails telling them the time that decisions would be posted but not everyone got the email (and there was no correlation to who got in). Some got the email the morning of the decisions.

That sounds…frustrating. Oh well, it is what it is. We just need to hold out until then, I guess.
