I’m applying ED to emory university and due to getting Sat accommodations very late (for severe dyselxia) I have not and will not have time to take subject tests. How will this affect my chances of admissions. I spoke with the rep for my area and they said it doesn’t matter but I just wanted to get another opinion.
Nobody here can come close to giving you better information than the admissions rep. Believe what he/she told you.
My daughter is a current Emory junior. She did not take any subject tests and was admitted. She did have pretty strong SATs and tons of leadership and awards at her high school plus a high GPA. So it’s possible to be accepted without subject tests if you have a strong overall application.
Ps She has a learning difference too but in math and her math SAT was just average.
@chemmchimney : They say that they only encourage the SAT 2 if it can demonstrate an academic strength. My guess is that they do not want to make Emory less accessible. It costs more money to pay to for SAT2s on top of the regular SAT or ACT, which may be dicey for those who are not in the waiver territory but for whom it is still a burden. I think some schools even make students pay for APs, so all this plus apps for some is a bit much. In addition, I must say that there are many ways to demonstrate academic passion and talent than through taking another multiple choice exam (hopefully one has taken analogous AP/IB/dual enrollment courses if available).
@prevetgirl
Do you have any hooks. Looking back at your other threads, Emory ED seems to be a Reach.
