Emory vs. Notre Dame

So I just got a call from Emory while I was in the shower...
saying that I'm off the wait list b/c I was one of the earliest students to be admitted from the waiting list.

I just sent in my deposit to Notre Dame yesterday because I loved the school and it was the best school amongst the shools I got into.

but I originally decided to accept to be on wait list for Emory b/c I wanted to go back then.

So I'm just considering which way to go...
and since the adcom told me if I want to go, I have to overnight the deposit so it gets to Emory
by tomorrow, I'm really short on time

Can you help me decide? thanks

Id stick with ND

i mean they're very similar on paper... so it's more confusing

What do you plan to do?

What about money?

How about the fit?

You have to compare these schools very closely.

I want to do pre-med and both schools are good for it

As an international student, I have to pay every penny of tuition and room and board. Also they cost about the same

I only visited Notre Dame and I liked it.

sigh..

In that case, Notre Dame wins this battle.

ND is the way to go

ND if you like US sports and can handle bad weather. Emory for better weather but a little boring.

can someone give me pro and con of emory and ND?

I really appreciate your inputs... this is possibly the most important decision of my life.

thanks again!
off to Borders to read some college guides..

I hate to bring this into the picture, but it depends if you are catholic. If you are, then ND, if not then the decision becomes more difficult whether you would fit in.

i think it's kind of unfair of emory to ask for a deposit by tomorrow after wait-listing you, i would say the environments at these schools are a little different.

Notre Dame has the religious factor

it's also a slightly stronger school, both in name and student body

really a tough call, the biggest factor should probably be personal fit; if you like ND, go there. I know admissions are a game but there is also something to be said for feeling wanted at a school when one accepts you initially and the other takes you off the waitlist.

I am Catholic. I really like ND. Campus, the student body, the professors. and I also like the fact that there is no greek life instead it's replaced by dorm life.

It's a shame I haven't visited Emory.

thanks elsijkdl, I haven't thought about it that way... ND wanted me in the first place indeed.

After reading bunch of college guides, it seems like ND and Emory are pretty similar in terms of national ranking and academics. I guess the diff. is social factors, post graduate opportunities, campus, etc.

This is hard

any more opinions?

Most of your college life will not be in classrooms. It will be in the dorms, hanging around campus, being involved with groups and sports of interest to you.A great college will leave its stamp on you. It's kind of like being an Eagle scout-that tag follows its owner for a lifetime.Being a Domer sets you apart.Virtually everyone in America respects and admires ND for what it stands for and the graduates it produces. The pride and school spirit of ND! Wow-what a great place!

which one did you choose?

I chose the University of Notre Dame

and politely declined a spot at Emory

thank you everyone for your help and interest

Go Irish!

good pick..

yeah, great choice

SUPERB choice.

thank you :)
