Is Emory worth paying 60k more over Tulane if I am going to major in business? Emory has a much higher ranked business school, larger city for internships, and I get to play my sport there. I intend to stay in the south after school. No loans would be incurred.

Who is paying for this?

If your parents are fine with the difference, then ask them. At my house, you would have your plane ticket to Tulane bought already, and I’d have the bumper-sticker on my previously bumper-sticker-free car.

Think about what you can do with 60k. Buy two bumper-sticker-free cars? Pay for the first year of an MBA program after you’ve worked for a couple of years?

Parents would pay.

If we put financial matters aside, Emory is a better choice.

Some parents would give the kid that 60k for grad school, or a down payment on a house, or to cover living expenses while job-hunting after graduation, or for expenses while taking unpaid internships during college. Have you discussed those kinds of things with yours?

Right now you seem to like Emory better. If your parents are OK with the cost, it is OK for you to choose it.

60k more a year? Or like over four years?

It’s $60k over 4 years. After garaduation, I am hoping to get a good job, work a few years and then go back for MBA. I have heard that many employers pay for or help pay for MBA.

If it’s only $15k more a year, Emory is definitely worth the money

Yeah its worth 60K for for years. The income difference will be made up pretty quickly, particularly for business.

To the poster who sent me an email about this question (I cannot find your SN to send you a PM) please PM me for a response. Not comfortable with email. Apologies.

Go with whichever you think you will like the most. If you plan on doing finance, then Tulane. Marketing, Emory. Both Tulane and Emory compete with each-other in most fields and in most geographic locations (neither Tulane nor Emory are strong in California, both are well known in the South - Tulane probably more known in New England).
