I was recently admitted into the Computer Science programs for both Emory and UMD, but I am having problems deciding between the two.
I heard that Emory does not have a very reputable Computer Science department and that its class sizes are incredibly small. I would prefer being in a larger class as opposed to one with only 30 other students.
I live in Maryland, so I have cheaper tuition for UMD and its Computer Science program is recognized as top 15 in the nation. However, I have visited the campus and I hate it there. It has been my dream to get out of state, and UMD feels like a restrictive bubble.
If anyone knows the explicit ranking for Emory’s Comp Sci program, I would appreciate that bit of information as well.
Would it be worth it to get a Comp Sci degree from Emory for the sake of getting out of state, or getting a degree from UMD? I’m speaking in terms of future connections and job opportunities.
