Thoughts/Opinions?

These are my son's options too. Currently leaning to UMich because he likes the diversity and atmosphere in Ann Arbor. He's also looking at NYU.

We visited NYU with my son during his junior year. He did not apply there, did apply to Columbia (not accepted). All of us felt very strongly about having a campus environment. I grew up in New York and went to BU and BU Law, so I certainly know what it's like to go to a "city" school. I guess my point to you is that while I loved going to school, I counseled my S to go to a school with a "dedicated" campus. NYU and the Village are great, but that would be my only caveat

UMichigan is a great school and Ann Arbor is a great college town. It's also HUGE which is what I didn't like about it. I think WashU and NU are comparable, with NU maybe having a little edge. Emory is a good choice, too. Weather could be a deciding factor for you.

I agree with what wintersilk said about WashU and NU being comparable . . . almost everbody I know who applied to NU at my school (20+ people) also applied to WashU, because the two schools are pretty similar in quality. NU is the more well-known of the two, though.

Of those schools, I'd easily choose Northwestern. Northwestern simply is in high demand right now, as apps rose 20% this year.
