Emphasis on the SATII?

I just want to know how much emphasis nyu puts on the subject tests.

My guidance counselor told me that most colleges don't really use the subject tests for determining admission, most just use them for course placement. Is this true? Or am I just getting my hopes up :/

I think NYU doesn't place too much emphasis on them.

I BOMBED my SAT II (literally, too embarrassing to post haha), but my GPA (4.0) and SAT (for the most part) and recs (amazing) and ECs were good.

So i think as long as everything else is pretty good, you will be OK.

For SAT, I think they care most about the reasoning test--especially since those are the scores that they report IMHO.

that is such a relief! I bombed my SATII's too. But everything else is good.

I think the purpose of the SAT II is to see how you did on tests that were specialized towards a specific topic. The reason I say this is because those auditioning for an audition/portfolio required major do not need to submit SAT II's. They're looking to see how you did on specific academic evaluations, instead of the general SAT I.

^I agree. The main focus is on the reasoning test, I figure if you get above 600 on a subject test it should be fine.
