ENGAGE chances?

Hey everybody. I was accepted under the ED1 program at the school of engineering and have applied to Owen School of Mgmt. under the ENGAGE program. Any feedback on chances?

GPA: fresh. - 3.18 UW
soph. - 3.08 UW
junior - 3.67 UW
senior - 3.86 UW

Highly competitive college preporatory high school

ACT highest subscores:
Eng 35
Math 36
Read 32
Sci 34

SAT scores:
CR 730
Math 790
Writ. 710

SAT II:
Math Level 2: 800

Essays: great...spent a long time on them...a lot of good revision

Personal recommendation about intellectual ability and desire/drive to succeed on academic and financial levels from Stanford Professor

I would list ECs, but you are not given the opportunity to put them on the ENGAGE application, so I don't think that they will be of any influence.

If anyone could give feedback, it would be greatly appreciated.

please, any thoughts?

how does your gpa compare to others, as in rank? even if you don't have rank, would you estimate it to be top 10? top 10%? etc

slipstream99, are you in the ENGAGE program? just curious.

My school does not rank. I cannot actually say that I would be in the top 10% for gpa, since my graduating class has 40 students. My class has a few people who somehow managed to get above a 4.0 unweighted gpa...but getting above a 3.0 is considered extremely difficult...and vanderbilt has a relationship with my school such that they know this.

How long has Owen been part of the Engage program? Anyone know?

does vandy look at highest subscores or do they take highest composite? with a 34/2230 and a gpa that is considered "extremely difficult" to get (let me say here that for current freshmen at vandy to even apply, they need a 3.5)(also, the engage website says most potential candidates are in top 1 to 2 percent of their class), you probably have a little bit of a shot, although i wouldn't say those numbers especially stand out or even break average (the avg SAT for this year's engage scholars is 1546). how well do you know this stanford professor? was it like a summer program or something? it seems to me that a teacher you had all year would have been able to better comment on your personality traits, etc. also, i would like to point out that you had to submit parts one and two of the vanderbilt application in addition to the engage supplement, so they know and will in all likelihood consider your ECs.

engage is a very difficult program to gain admission to and requires excellent credentials.

ecnerwalc3321, no, I'm not in engage. I'm premed so if, by the grace of some higher power, i got into the med school, it would be binding. i wasn't confident enough about liking vandy when i was applying to schools to realistically consider having a binding tie to the university for eight years, so i didn't apply to engage medicine.

VUalum, this is the first year of engage for all of the schools.

I don't believe the Engage program in medicine is binding for applying as a high school senior...it doesn't becoming binding until the end of the sophomore year. I do know that it is extremely competitive. Good luck!
