Engineering and Pharmacy

Is it possible to double major in Chemical Engineering and Pharmacy at the same time?

Or if the college I go to doesn't have pharmacy or engineering...should I complete the engineering degree first and then apply to pharmacy school? I could do the other way too of course...pharmacy and then chemical engineering.

What should I do?

My DS is in a 0-6 Pharmacy program. In his case, since the only degree awarded is a terminal PharmD, you cannot have another major or even a minor.

Truth be told, in 6 years he gets to choose only 6 courses -- 1 psychology, 1 sociology, and 4 more within specific parameters. He will take 16 credits only two semesters, the rest of the time it is 17 or 18 credits.

Based on my very limited exposure to his PharmD program, I think any 0-6 program is out. I am certain the are schools and programs where you can receive your Chemical Engineering degree in 4 years, while completing the Pharmacy requirements. However, I would speculate that you will find yourself in class over the summer to stay on target for each major.

Maybe more importantly, why is it that you want to receive a Chemical Engineering degree, as well as a PharmD? What are you looking to pursue that you feel both pieces of paper will be required?

Good luck!

I was a pharmacy major and my son is an engineering major. No chance whatsoever to work on both degrees at the same time. Sorry.

I was just wondering -- since I heard people finishing pharmacy degrees then doing Chem E degrees later.

After pharmacy, you would likely have two years of chem requirements towards your chemE degree, and maybe some math and physics as well.

how about doing chemical engineering major after earning economic degree?

Their undergraduate requirements don't have much in common. If you want the business end of engineering, it might make more sense to get the engineering BS followed by the MBA.
