Engineering/Business - Need Advice

Hi,

I'm interested in engineering as well as business. My original goal was to get a strong technical foundation in engineering (probably EE) and combine it with an MBA later on.

However, at UT, I've been accepted to McCombs with "Unspecified Business" as my major.

I have 2 options as to what I can do now, they are as follows:

1) Engineering Route to Business (ERB).
Engineering Route to Business - Degree Information - Undergraduate Programs - The McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin

Basically, you earn a BBA degree, but you do a lot of engineering courses as well

2) Switch my major to engineering, and combine it with "Business Foundations"

Undergraduate Programs - The McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin

In this case, I would be earning a B.S. degree in engineering, but still getting lots of exposure to business courses. Would this give me greater flexibility if I wanted to get M.S. later on?

Considering what I want to do, what do you think is better for me in the long run? Which makes more sense? Which will give me greater flexibility?

Basically, is it better to get an B.S. or a B.B.A. ?

Don’t expect much from Business Foundations. Those are not real McCombs business classes like business majors take. They are highly watered down versions.

I have always thought Engineering Route to Business (ERB) sounded like a really good program but do you want to have an engineering degree when you graduate so you are eligible to be hired as an engineer? I think that is the most important question to consider.
