Essays for all colleges are very good as they have been reviewed by multiple teachers.
I’m looking to get into the same major as you, and most of the same schools, so I have been trying to pay attention to what they want. I think your numbers might be a little low for engineering at GA Tech and Maryland. OK for Purdue. I don’t know anything about Ohio. Your ECs are good, and the music might be a hook for tech schools, they are always on the lookout for musicians, from what I hear. I’m kind of hoping for that as well.
Do you have any safeties? I don’t think your list has any on there (except maybe Ohio?). Engineering esp. aerospace is tough to get into, you need some schools that you’re in the 75th percentile, just in case.
Ohio State is one of my safety schools, along with Michigan State and Michigan Tech (which I already got into and why I did not mention it on here). I actually found out that Ohio State some good scholarships for OOS students. Look into the National Buckeye Scholarship. Also by U of M, I meant University of Michigan. I just found out today that I got waitlisted at Purdue, which is a little disappointing. However, they accept 30 % of their waitlisted students.
Wow, @nasteeR waitlisted at Purdue? I’m surprised.
I’m going to have to really check over my lists of reaches and matches, too. I never even applied to U of M as it is so hard to get into (much to my Calc teacher’s dismay, she’s from there).
There’s no aerospace at any of my state schools so if I don’t get into one as an OOS student, I won’t be happy, for sure. I better make sure I have some safeties, too.
If you’re out of state, you will actually have an advantage at UMD… they have been trying to boost their OOS population over the last few years. Coming from an in state student, I can’t say I love that lolol but its true. Illinois has a solid engineering school that really isn’t given much thought.
@emptyMT I applied in mid September. They accept about 30% of their waitlisted students, and I look like I am slightly above their averages. The thing that probably brought me down was a C in AP Calc; however I did get a 4 on the AP test for that class. Do you know if colleges look at how you do in your senior year if you are waitlisted? I know they do that for deferred, but not sure about waitlisted.
