Do you think I even have a chance based on my stats and background.

Not trying to ruin your Chirstmas, but your chance is slim. I moved here in 2004 as well and English is my 2nd language. I improved my ACT score from 15 to 24 to 27 to 31. Many schools will consider the process and pain that you had to go through to learn your second language, but a school like Johns Hopkins probably won't take it that seriously, just because many many of their applicants fought through the pain and got good scores. Your GPA is also just average for Johns Hopkins. I also noticed that all three of your scores are kinda the same. Math would be very important for Engineering, and you only have a 690, which isn't spectacular. Also, a lot of Asians and Middle Eastern are looking into Engineering, and they have unbelievable scores, so you're put in a disadvantage from the start. Anyhow, I wouldn't say Johns Hopkins is a match, but with great essays, you still have a chance. Just add more safety schools and be ready if you get rejected. Good luck with everything.
