Engineering Majors

What is the easiest engineering major to be admitted into? And how easy is it to switch to something like EECS?

Generally, they’re all about equally hard to get into (except for Undeclared and EECS). A small percentage difference makes such a small difference you don’t have to account for. EECS, you can only get in if you’re EECS, Undeclared, or, iirc, if someone in EECS drops out, and so a spot opens.

@mikuru What is IIRC? Also, I thought that engineering science, CE, and IEOR are easier to get into.

iirc = if I recall correctly

They might be, statistically speaking, but the actual difference is such a small amount of people it’s almost negligible. Regardless, you will still need high stats either ways. (Why would you apply for something you also don’t enjoy?)

Changing major, even within the CoE, is not guaranteed.

Better to just apply for the major you want to study in the first place, or CoE undeclared if you are unsure.

@mikuru I read somewhere that majors didn’t limit enrollment.

Limiting enrollment to stay within the capacity of the department is the reason why some majors require higher grades or GPA than 2.0 or C to change into.
