unlike the traditional BA-->MBA, I'm going for Engineering BE --> MBA.
I figured i dont want to work in engineering anymore (after i graduate), but I'd rather work in something business related.
If I do an MBA after my BE in MechE, will i be able to work in non-tech related companies right after college?

I want to do the EXACT same thing as you! My dad did something sort of like that and he started out as an engineer straight out of college. But he was given a managerial post soon afterward.

ah yeh thats nice. but i dont wanna work as an engineer at all :). only alternative i can think of then is to either switch major now or study Bachelor in BA after BE in MechE.
unless MBA straight after BE works?

it’s not a very uncommon thing to do… look at business school’s incoming classes. you can see that many MBA students had STEM backgrounds.

but It really depends on your current major and your goal. for example if you are a mechE major and wanna have a management job in your mech; it can be said that the best way is BEng + MBA…

But again, “it really depends on what you want”… talk to your college counselor. if you decided to study engineering, try to take business related courses as much as you can or even a econ/business minor in college…

Hard to say. A lot of people do MBA for a change of career, only some do it because they need to move up.

If you are an engineer, you should be smart enough for most jobs. People with business degrees have an advantage if they have banking experiences. It looks good when they recruit for Private Equity. Generally speaking, business undergrads have more related experiences and are more likely to get hired by companies.
