Engineering: MechE or Aero?

i'm going to be a freshman this fall and i'm not sure which one i want to major in! i've went from physics to mechE to aero and now back between mechE and aero. to me there are essentially the same thing, with aero just being more specific. I want the best of both worlds with physics and engineering and it seems like i'll get that with mech. but I also like space and aviation.

picking which major i want is like being in at car dealership. I'm at nissan and I'm pointing at a row of cars from a distance and i know I want one of them, just not the specific one. but there is no way i'll be getting a buick. see what I mean?

plus i really want to stop being indecisive when it comes out to filling out my major for scholarships.

which one do you think I should pick? - factoring in job availability/variety

sorry about my rambling X)

I’m no expert, and ultimately it’s your choice, but honestly you don’t need to know right now. I’d recommend you go into tech with the original intent of taking mechanical engineering. You’ll take many of the same classes in both. If you decide for sure that you want to do aero by your sophomore year, then it’ll be easy to switch. However, you may find another area that interests you more than aero, and again, it will be easy for you to change. If you go through all four years with mech and then decide you want to do aero after you graduate, then just get your masters in aero. Again though, I’m not an expert in any way, that’s just the way I see it now.
