is there anyway these two intervene? could an engineer be involved in police work? if so, how? Thanks

two totally different arenas...

one job is thrilling and fun

while the other job is predictable and routine

one job you could die of boredom

the other job you could die from a bullet from a madman

You could do both. Be an engineer, and an auxiliary cop on the side, but I'm not aware of a single job that combines both.

Bomb Squad?

Perhaps ROTC would be more your thing?
Airforce etc need engineers and they'll have great deals for you.

You're just an engineer working on projects with military/security applications, but you aren't directly involved in police work. I think the OP wants to be directly involved, although I don't think there is such a field.

No but you can be involved in "law enforcement" and the "judicial system" together. As you gain enough experience, there may be instances where they need a professional (you) to testify against someone in court with your expertise in engineering.

As far as direct police work, no.

You could be an engineer and turn vigilante like the Punisher.
