Searching for first tier colleges that have a strong engineering program, but also offer strong political science major/minors...I know its a weird combo.. but I'm somewhat (not really) good at math, but also have a strong interest in political science, especially in international affairs..as a high school student.

I'm thinking colleges like Mcgill and Harvey Mudd at the moment.. any other colleges you guys can recommend? Thanks for your time.

Hahaha, I’m in the exact situation too! I want to do chemical engineering and poli sci. So far what I’m looking at and recommended are

MIT, WUSTL, Northwestern, Rice, and UMich Ann Arbor. I also looked up that Georgetown has a program with Columbia for engineering in your junior and senior year, and Georgetown itself is very strong in poli sci.

MIT is the first place to come to mind. Everyone knows about engineering at MIT but many don’t realize that MIT also has a very highly ranked political science department. Not surprisingly, it is very quantitative as opposed to qualitative in approach.

I’d say yes to MIT (great business programs as well as engineering) and no to Mudd (too mathy for your needs). Keep in mind, though, that you need to have safeties that you love. A lot of the schools mentioned in this thread are lottery schools - even if you are perfect for them, there are 2000 other students just like you who may win the coin flip.

Good luck! And it’s great that you are thinking about this now rather than in October!

Stanford is probably the most prominent such school. Many of the top public schools such as Berkeley & UCLA. Also the aforementioned MIT, along with Cornell & Princeton.
