<p>It depends on the school. Some have national spread while others are really only connected locally.</p>
<p>Obviously, it depends.</p>
<p>Higher reputation in the particular area of engineering and large enough size of that engineering major will attract more out-of-area company recruiters to the campus career center.</p>
<p>But being local will attract more recruiters from local companies (often smaller ones) that do not travel (much) to recruit.</p>

there are SOME out of state recruiters I have encountered.
even then, most recruit for the local office, which concerns me
as much as i like the school, i dont see myself in WI after grad.

<p>My D talked to recruiters on campus from all accross the country, and selected one in MI. Her company recruits all over, and she works with people from Vanderbilt, Carnegie Melon, U of I, U of MI, MI State. </p>
<p>I think that any big school will have people from out of state recruiting, but I can totally understand wanting to get out of WI. Talk to your career office - I am sure they can help you out.</p>
