Engineering students get credit for 5 on AP cal BC?

If I get a 5 on AP Calculus BC, will I get credit for Cal 1-2 (freshman math)?

I’ve also taken Linear Algebra and Multivariable Cal at local city colleges, and those two courses are what sophomore math at Berkeley Engineering consists of.

Will there be a placement test?

You may check the above web site to find out or you can contact Math Dept to confirm.

yes, 5 ap calc bc gets you out of Math 1A and 1B. some engineers still take those two for a gpa boost and for the extra time on series and diff eq's. a lot regret it, though, because half the time, it's so hard it doesn't actually boost your gpa, otherwise, you're really smart and just plain bored. i personally skipped out and didn't regret it at all, except for the DE's because i know that will come back to haunt me in another semester or two.

no placement tests, but make sure everything (transcipts from your CC, AP results) gets cleared with the department.

Yes. It's probably better to read the CoE handbook rather than Assist for AP credit. Assist is great for CC => UC transfer classes, but rely on CoE handbook because its decided by College what they take.

5 on BC gets you out of Math 1A and 1B. You can take Math 53 directly.
