Engineering Study Abroad Options

I am currently a first year Mechanical Engineering student and I am curious about experiences with studying abroad while mantaining the Engineering curriculum. There are two Lafayette faculty run trips: St. Louis Univeristy Madrid, in Madrid Spain, and Jacobs University, in Bremen Germany. I was wondering if anyone had any experiences with either of these programs.

Also, Lafayette lists a couple other programs that are not Lafayette-faculty run and are through other colleges. I'm not sure if I am willing to try other school's professors since I have come to love my Lafayette professors. Does anyone have any experiences with any of these programs?

Thanks!!

I am not sure about these programs as I have not been on them, but I have studied abroad as a mechanical engineering student. It was a great experience and I highly recommend that you do it. Also, if possible, I would recommend that you go to a school that offers classes taught by professors of the host country. It is very interesting to learn from professors that you are not used to. Take that risk.

The Engineering Dept. hosts an information session sometime in March about the trips to Bremen and Madrid which involves students who have been on the trip in the past coming to talk about their experiences. I suggest you go for that if you’re interested in the faculty-led study abroad programs.
