Engineering transfers to Cornell for Fall '09

Hey fofo, welcome to the engineering thread. After these first 4 acceptances, I asked Cornell when we could expect to be notified and they as usual, beginning of May onwards. This agrees with everything on the Cornell website regarding transfer applicants, but I’m not sure I believe this. They’ve said this about the transfer applicants, yet some have come so early. Obviously, I can’t be sure. Maybe it does take longer. Guess we’ll find out the hard way, but in my opinion, if everything is under review, then it shouldn’t be too long…by the way fofo, would you mind posting your stats?

Hi zirtico,I emailed the admissions office asking when they would notify the CAS applicants. This is their reply:
Hi - we will be posting decisions in late April through May .
Iam a sophomore transfer.Stats: 1st semester GPA 3.575 -I was in the honor roll list.
2nd semester mid-term grades all As.( Physics, Calculus/Anal. Geometry II, Chemistry).hope to achieve a 4.0 GPA final. High school GPA 3.750 -in the 10% top students-currently in the swimming team of the college I am attending ( full scholarship)

Ah thanks. Why does it have to be so late? Does anyone know what the conditions of acceptance are?? I might fail a course, which is HONESTLY not my fault… and I really really really don’t want to get accepted and then have it revoked, I would seriously much rather just be straight out rejected rather than that.

Hey, zirtico ,stop being pessimistic. In case of a possible failure, can’t you take a summer course? What courses have you taken for this semester? From what I have heard, when you are accepted, they ask for the college transcript -your second semester courses and final grades.

hey… i’m not an engineering major but i am a cornell admit and i just wanted to plug the facebook group for transfers! join it!

hey, thanks for that chicago.

anyone up to calling the engineering admissions office and asking them when decisions might be out? people called CAS and they were told that they’d be up around May 1st on the website. I would but i don’t have a long distance phone i can use…just my cell which would be killer. it’s worth asking them when we can expect them and making sure to tell them that decisions have been issued starting April 13th and CAS will have them by the end of this month.

omg…when are we supposed to hear back from CoE! the other cornell thread is bombarded with CAS and CALS people…so it seems like not that many people here on CC applied CoE…i am speculating the first round of decisions would be sent out tomor and hopefully we can hear back something on monday next week…my application has been sent to faculty for review about 2 weeks ago…so i think we should be hearing back soon…ugh i just want to know about cornell’s decision (i’ve already got into Wash.U )!!! CoE is like the best among all the other cornell colleges…and i am psyched!
btw…im Electric and Computer engineering major and junior standing…tho i’d be turning 19 this year…lol…
come on future Cornell Engineers! don’t let this thread sink!

Even my application has been under review since early April. About the 1st round of decisions being sent out tomorrow…is that purely a guess or did someone from CoE mention that??

well…i called last week and the person answered the phone told me that decisions should be available starting the last week of April…and since CoE doesn’t even have guaranteed transfer students like other divisions do, i am assuming for us regular transfer students, decisions should be available sooon…i’ve been freakin waiting for the decision for like ever…lol

and btw, anyone has stats from previous years regarding how many students usually apply transfer to CoE and how many they accept??

http://dpb.cornell.edu/documents/1000156.pdf

For Fall 2008 (CoE):
62 accepted out of 264. 41 enrolled.

Btw NOOBIE, if you don’t mind me asking, what are your stats?

Yeah I saw those stats. Yeah NOOOBIE, if you don’t mind, stats would be cool! 264 applicants - that’s not very many. They’re sure taking their time and having too many tea parties.

Hopefully what Noobie said will turn out to be true and we all will get accepted before May! :)

Wouldn’t that just be dandy!! Last week of April…that’s virtually here…I CAN’T WAIT! YAYAYAYA

Yeah, let’s not let it sink…Since there are so few of us, I think decisions should be posted here as they as received. Also post on Violaghost’s thread about Decisions and Stats for all Cornell transfer students. Mine as been under review for 2 weeks as well. Did they really say the last week of April? What exactly were their words?

my first year GPA was like 3.72 and my soph year GPA was 4.0 so far. I was salutatorian back in high school with 4.0 GPA and enough decent ECs, community service, job experiences and internships…strong rec letters from professors and awesome dean’s report…im currently attending a private early college in MA that’s why i am only gonna be turning 19 this year but i am a rising soph…
anyway, 62 out of 264, that’s still pretty competitive…they surely are taking their sweet time…
where else did you guys apply? is cornell your first choice?

I applied quite a while back. Cornell is my first choice and I put everything into that application. I HATE McGill so I’m either going to Cornell, or moving back home to UBC…as nice as home is, I DON’T want to be restricted at UBC. I want Cornell more than anything else. What exactly did CoE say about the dates NOOOBIE?

NOOBIE, those are impressive stats man. Cornell is my first choice, and I’ve applied to Columbia as well (not too optimistic about it).
