Can someone tell me about the engineering majors offered at Yale-NUS? I read someone say that they aren’t there? Please tell me more on this.
You cannot major in engineering at Yale-NUS. You can major in mathematical sciences, computer sciences, physical sciences, but not engineering. It’s set up as a liberal arts school, though there is a little wiggle room; you can set up individualized studies in consultation with your department. https://www.yale-nus.edu.sg/curriculum/majors/
At any rate Yale-NUS isn’t an ABET-accredited school. Your student will be prepared to get a master’s in engineering if he/she so desires, but will not have an American-style ABET engineering degree. It’s similar situation to any American LAC (prestigious Liberal Arts College); it prepares you for graduate school but is not a pre-professional degree.
In general, employers are not beaten down Yale’s door to hire engineers. The New Haven campus has an accredited program, it’s just not considered that strong versus some other Ivy engineering offerings.
