Is it hard to get into uconn as an engineer(chemical) relatively speaking. Compared to the other majors at uconn is it more or less likely for me to get in regardless of scores?

anyone???

I believe the Engineering school is much more competitive to get into. I got accepted with a small amount of money to a math related major, while someone in my class who was an all around better candidate (higher GPA/rank, more involvment) got waitlisted to UConn. Again, based on this alone I don’t know for sure that it’s becasue engineering is more difficult–there are numerous reasons. However, I know they have like a special Medical/Law track which is very selective and applying to those programs is much more difficult then just getting into the school itself, and I believe the engineering school follows with that.

I just checked the Engineering departments homepage ([SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING – UNIVERSITY OF CONNECTICUT](http://www.engr.uconn.edu/prospectivestudents.php)) and couldn’t really find anything to back up what I’m saying, so take it with a grain of salt I suppose.

tl;dr: I do remember hearing Engineering is more difficult to get into, but I don’t know where and I have no sources to back me up.

Alesteors is correct in that the Engineering School is difficult to get into. Many students who do not get in initially enter UConn and then transfer into the school internally. The transfer process, however, is equally difficult.

I saw a video on the uconn website-average sat for engineering was 1310 I think. I was also accepted for engineering with a 31 ACT/2060 SAT

I was accepted for Engineering with a 31 ACT/1840 SAT

My daughter was accepted on the 17th to the Chem Engineering program as well. We visited there a few months ago and the Department director gave us a tour. Very nice guy. He said there were only a few hundred in the engineering program. Her stats are:
SAT 2080
ACT 32
GPA 4.2
Heavy amount of AP classes

S was accepted as an Environmental Engineering major with a 1980 SAT. Engineering is
more competitive than the Business school which is more competitive than say ACES or CLAS.
