So lately I've been stressing over the decision date and questioning my choice of major on my application, engineering. If my scores aren't considered good enough is it possible for me to be admitted to my second choice rather than getting rejected? I know Syracuse does something like this so that's why I'm curious. Thanks.

They first evaluate your application for the University of Maryland overall, then it goes to your LEP major if you get in the UMD school.

…at least I think that’s the case; if anyone else could confirm?

I pray to God that is the case because I am in the SAME exact boat as you…I don’t know what I was thinking

From what I have heard from an Admission Representative, the first goal is to get accepted into UMD, then they take a look at a few factors to determine eligibility for a LEP. In this case, after acceptance into UMD, they would look at SAT Math scores and other Math related aspects to determine if the student qualifies for an engineering LEP. If the student does not qualify for the LEP of his/her choice, then s/he will be admitted to Letters and Sciences.

Thank the Diety

kbrennan I am also in the same boat as you. I know that Maryland re-looks at your application even if you are rejected for LEP or vice-versa.

is that supposed to be a good thing that they re-look at it? ^
