So what do you think of Engineering at UF? Pretty straight forward.

bump....

chemical in particular please!

UF has the best engineering program in Florida and it one of the best compared to the upper teir schools. During Fall and Spring, UF holds huge two day career fair that attracts some of the best engineering companies in the worlds. From Siemens to Lockheed Martin. They know that UF puts out high quality engineers. The engineering dept also helps you through the engineering curriculum by offering free tutoring in all the pre-req classes (calc 1,2,3, statics, physics, dynamics, diffq, gen. chem). Also you should know that the classes are not easy. Just because you are going to a state school, doesnt mean that classes at UF are easier than classes at MIT.

Chemical engineering has the most credit requirements out of all the engineering majors at UF (I think about 135 credits). The average major is 120 credits. Usually it takes a chemical engineer around 4.5 years to graduate if they dont do summer classes. There are plenty of research opportunities with all engineering specialties. Is there anything specific you would like to ask me about engineering major at UF (classes, free time, etc.).

Are you an engineering student at UF?

If you dont mind, could you divulge your admissions stats (SAT, GPA, etc.)

Is it possible to have a minor with an engineering major at UF? There does not seem to be much room for other courses/electives... thanks alot!

Yeah, and , do you have much free time?

do u know anything about electrical engineering?

I know that with ISE many are business minors, that's what I'm gonna start out as at least.

what's ISE? my guess would be Industrial Systems Engineer?

yes. (10 characters)

Are you an engineering student at UF?
-Yes, I am an engineering major.

If you dont mind, could you divulge your admissions stats (SAT, GPA, etc.)
-1250, high school 4.7, college 3.4

Is it possible to have a minor with an engineering major at UF? There does not seem to be much room for other courses/electives... thanks alot!
-The only minor in engineering I could see a non major doing is sales engineering and materials science and engineering minor. The other minors in engineering require classes that are too advance. Examples are the biomechanics and electrical engineering minors.

Yeah, and , do you have much free time?
-Yes, I do but I know when you get into you junior and senior year you can have very little free time, esp if your chemical and aerospace.

do u know anything about electrical engineering?

-Electrical is very hard. I would rank it second after chemical. My friend is an electrical engineering major but feels its easy because he likes the stuff he learns. You have to take classes like circuits, data structures, and microprocessors (very hard class). Your prereqs are the same as any other engineering major: Calc 1,2,3, diffq, gen chem1, physics w/ calc 1 and 2, statics , dynamics, and tech writing. Anything else?

Yeah its true, many ISE majors minor in business or sales engineering.

I've been told that ISE is significantly easier than the other engineering majors, is that true?

If so, I'd assume easy for an engineering major would still be significantly harder than a straight business major though, right?

any other info about ISE or job prospects and the general major would be appreciated too.

My S is an EE major at UF. He does not do CC but I can ask him questions for you.
